Volunteers from the Rome chapter of the Armuchee Ruritan Club enjoyed the fruits of all labor with a very successful show. These Ruritans work hard to raise funds for those in need, and this 3rd annual car show was a delightful event.

When Steve (a Ruritan himself) called me and asked if I would attend, I was honored. Diana and I were in Louisville Kentucky for the annual NSRA Street Rod National Show, which runs from Wednesday through Sunday. Louisville is a great event and allowed us to rendezvous with several of our friends from all across the United States.

To attend the Ruritan Car Show in Rome, we had to leave our friends in Louisville a little early and drive to Rome. The incredible turnout of fine folks, great cars, trucks and motorcycles from all over Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama, made the trip very rewarding for me personally.

How lucky can one guy get? I met a whole bunch of wonderful new friends, got to see some great machinery, and all of this took place in some of the finest weather the South has to offer.

The Mayor was there to present me with a proclamation of their thanks, and several volunteers presented Diana and me with some great Southern foodstuffs. We have already enjoyed the roasted pecans, the canned green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and summer squash. The honey from local bee keepers is wonderful. I’ll be sure to be back next year if my schedule permits. We hope to see you there.

If I didn’t get around to personally visiting with you and have an opportunity to see firsthand your pride and joy, maybe we can meet again next year. The small registration fee buys you a wonderful Saturday with great cars, great people, and all for a terrific cause.
